Laurie naturally possesses the same, rich, smooth, strong voiced, baritone quality as Sinatra's, his range being identical - with a top note of G above middle C, whilst holding full vocal shape & quality. As well as the trademark Sinatra swing songs, which as a jazz singer Laurie revels in, the great show stopping ballads such as "I have dreamed" - which demands a top G sung live - are included. Such vocal excellence is essential in a Sinatra tribute. Laurie's show always attracts the mature section of the general public (with the highest level of disposable income and most leisure time), sell outs are quite the norm.
Much is always made in the pre-show advertising, of Laurie's uncanny vocal similarity to the great man and many Sinatra fans attend the show, out of sheer curiosity. Standing ovations often follow "New York New York" & "My Way", as Laurie brings the show to it's barnstorming conclusion. Those in the audience seeing the show for the first time arrive as sceptics but almost always go away delighted and mostly return for the show's next performance.
Laurie has performed many private shows for celebrities, they and music critics have been very generous in their praises. Tony Porker - writing in 'Encore' jazz magazine - enthused that no other singer could so match Sinatra's voice and Janet Bolding, the BBC radio producer, wrote to Laurie declaring "I doubt if there is another Sinatra style voice we could have trusted with a live broadcast" and one of his greatest fans - former football mnager Ron Atkinson - swore that he thought that some one had put one of Sinatra's records on when Laurie surprised him on his 60th birthday.
Available as a solo performer to backing tracks, or with his live band ranging from 3 – 16 musicians, Laurie has a superb reputation who's performance is matched by his personality. Laurie is a true professional and the perfect gentleman guaranteeing to entertain you and your guests every time!!
A typical performance is for 2 x 45 minute sets as a solo artist or up to 2 hours with the live band.
