Bills career and love of the saxophone started at the age of 15 when he joined the band of the Queens Royal Lancers as a boy soldier. He studied at the royal military school of music, Kneller Hall, in London before transferring to the Scots Guards. Duties here included playing for the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, investitures, state opening of Parliament, Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph and many other ceremonial occasions to be proud of, he played in many small quartets and jazz groups during his time based in London, and believes his military background taught him the importance of punctuality, reliability, flexibility, and smart dress code.
Bill has been playing at weddings for many years now and really understands the art of adding that special and often elusive touch of style to an occasion without over shadowing the bride and groom. He always, where possible, likes to discuss with the happy couple just what sort of music they want and the type of atmosphere they are trying to create, but he is also quite happy, if they wish, for them to leave it to him to use his experience to choose or change the style and ideum according to the situation. He strongly believes each wedding he plays for is not just another wedding but is a couples special day and should be treated that way.
Sax Mania is happy to play:
Before the ceremony while the guests arrive;
During the wedding breakfast;
While the photographer does his work; or
As a pre runner to your band or disco later on.
Adding a live saxophone to a corporate event helps to add that touch of sophistication and suave and can be a very useful tool in the art of getting your company remembered -'oh yes the ones with the saxophone player!' - can be used as background music as clients arrive, during the drinks and buffet, or simply as a filler between any particular part of the event.
A typical performance is for up to 2 hours of music and a small PA can be provided if required.
