Sahara’s wide repertoire recreates the
sounds of 60’s soul legends (Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and
Marvin Gaye to name just three) right through to the modern pop icons
of today including Anastacia, Shania Twain and Robbie Williams.
Sahara’s energetic set also encompasses all time favourites from
the 70’s disco era including 'Disco Inferno', 'Play That Funky Music'
and 'Car Wash' as well offering an excellent party mix of 80’s favourites
(including hits by Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson and Spandau Ballet) and
a great selection of swing favourites. Specialist theme nights, or combinations
can be easily accommodated with advance notification, otherwise a general
party mix will be selected to suit a wide variety of ages, backgrounds
and musical tastes.
Sahara and its members have also had the great pleasure of performing
with legends such as The Foundations, Limahl (Kajagoogoo), Gwen Dickey
(Rose Royce), Avril Lavine, Shane Ritchie, David Essex, The Drifters,
The Average White Band and Bonnie Langford.
Born and bred in Scotland, Sahara's lead singer, Debbie, is an expert
on Scottish Country dancing. If you're looking to bring some of the Scottish
Ceilidh (pronounced 'kay-lee') party spirit to your night, Sahara now
offer an extra 45 min set of traditional Scottish ceilidh dances including
the 'Gay Gordons', 'Strip The Willow', 'St Bernards Waltz' and the 'Dashing
White Sergeant' (these can be spread throughout the evening if you prefer).
Don't worry if your guests might not know all of the dances, Debbie has
plenty of experience in teaching Scottish Country Dancing and will 'call'
the dances, keeping your guests "whirlin' an a-birlin' til the wee
hours o' the mornin'!"
A typical performance is for up to 2 hours of music (excluding any optional
sets - ceilidh, jazz etc) and the band are self-contained with their own
PA and lighting.
