Profile |

| He has graced the circuit by performances
at many of the top London restaurants and jazz venues, including the 100
Club on Oxford Street and Pizza Express Jazz Club in London’s West
End and additionally at numerous weddings and private parties. Born in Dublin, Kevin McMahon received his first saxophone from his father at an early age and by the late 80’s, Kevin was playing at notable jazz venues including London’s Mean Fiddler Jazz Club. His move to the band ‘The Celtic Posse’ saw him appear at the internationally renowned Montreaux Jazz Festival, Switzerland in 1995, followed by further tours. Musically, the strongest influence on Kevin has been the great Stan Getz, arguably the most popular saxophonist ever. Kevin’s sound and choice of material veers between mainstream and modernistic jazz, with ballads and blues; all essentially rendered towards the romantic and reflecting his classic looks and taste. Kevin has played alongside luminaries such as the Swing drummer Ian Howarth’s Messrs Jazz. He has recently also reunited with Ian Howarth who over the years has had in his line-ups, artists as diverse as members of the famous Temperance 7; the late harmonica wizard Larry Adler and Adalade Hall - an ex-duke Ellington vocalist. Kevin’s usual performance is as a solo saxophonist playing to backing tracks. A typical performance is for up to 2 hours of music and a small PA can be provided if required. What we say: "Talented saxophonist who loves performing and brings an elegant musical backdrop to any event. Charming and accommodating who understands the importance of each event." |

| "Kevin played at our wedding
this weekend and was fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough of him. He
set the tone for the wedding from the very beginning and created just the
right mood. Everyone loved him ....... especially the girls. He was professional,
friendly and very talented. I would have no hesitation in recommending him
to anyone." S Robinson In these musical settings – before and beyond, it is the well informed view of the present writer that Kevin McMahon has few superiors in the jazz idiom." CJB Holme, Jazz Magazine and U.K. Broadsheets writer |
