| 'In Trinidad, they have a word for
the music they play - a music that has become internationally popular over
the last thirty years. The word is 'kaiso' (pronounced ky-so) which means
'calypso' or its modern variant 'soca' and needless to say it is this music
that beats at the very heart of every Kaiso performance. Kaiso is an exciting fully self-contained Caribbean show band drawn principally from Trinidad. The band play a superb range of authentic music with it's roots in the reggae, Black American and Latin styles. Consequently, a typical Kaiso set will usually include music with soca, traditional calypso, meringue and reggae origins. Their play list features authentic Caribbean music and, whilst not everyone will recognise some of the songs, their performance is laced with familiar covers ensuring you and your guests can dance 'til they drop. The core line-up consists of drums, bass and lead guitar, steel pans and vocals with several of the musicians doubling up on other instruments or singing. This can be complemented with additional horn section, percussion, keyboard and vocals. Regardless of the band size, Kaiso are fully professional session musicians who, individually write, play and produce for a whole host of named artists. They have played at society weddings, college balls, advertising agency launches, festivals, and can surely only be one of few to have played at private parties for both Mick Jagger and Paul Mc Cartney! It's little wonder that Kasio have established themselves as one of the leading bands in their genres both in the UK and at 'home'. A typical performance lasts for up to 2 hours. Line up & Options: Drums, bass, keyboards, guitar, male vocals Optional female vocalist |
