Profile

Jessica, a.k.a Kate (vocals) has a fantastic ability to both entertain and sing. She had been a firm favourite within Nottingham’s open mic and Jam fraternity which spurred her on to forming her own combi’s. The first of these was with Guitarist, Matt Williams. Together they played an eclectic mix of songs and soon found themselves regularly playing the best venues in and around the Nottingham live music scene, with Shaw’s, The Golden Fleece and the Old Bell being just a selection.

Most recently Kate played with, the band Big Stuff, which are a Motown based outfit playing wedding and corporate gigs and has also appeared with Mood Indigo as a “shy tot” (backing vocals) at various festivals over the past Summer season. Kate’s influences are as varied as her ability, ranging from Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Doris Day to Florence Welch and Beyonce Knowles.

John Porter (Double Bass) is a fabulous highly skilled musician with over 19 years worth of professional, freelance experience. He’s played in many different contexts with many different people, ranging from the legendary Vic Damone and classic 80’s favorites Buck’s Fizz to some of the finest bands and orchestra’s such as The Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra, Kings of Swing and the Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra to name but a few. JP has played all over the UK and Europe and has done many a season working on the Cruise Ships including the QE2. He’s also featured at Cork Jazz Festival and Newark Jazz Festival where you will be able to see him perform again this year with his Brazilian jazz quartet 'Tudo Bem'. As if his life wasn’t busy enough, JP also teaches bass in his limited spare time.

Richard ‘Dickie’ Baker (Piano) started piano lessons at an early age and became closely involved in musical activities at school. At 14 he joined the Toot Hill Dance Band which performed regularly at local functions. This introduced him to the repertoires of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Dickie also acquired a passionate interest in many of the piano greats such as Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner. Inspired by these sounds he formed his own trio which led to regular bookings and requests to play in other bands. Since the early 90s Dickie has played at notable venues around the East Midlands. His engagements comprise solo, duo, small group and big band work. Dickie is also associated with several vocalists and has backed some of the UK’s leading musicians at the Newark Jazz Festival.

Paul Hose (Drums) is not only known as a fantastic performer, but also as a concert performer and as a teacher too. Paul’s live work includes television broadcast productions, arena shows, festivals and much more. He has worked with a host of artists from across the musical spectrum including Sarah Jory, The English National Ballet, Grammy award winning Tom Chapin, producer Steve Chapin and guitar virtuoso, Lee Wrathe and he continues to work with the A1 Events production, “To be Frank,” a tribute to Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

Paul also owns the nationally recognised, MLC-Academy in Nottingham where some ten teachers and over 300 students show testament to Paul’s hard work and commitment.

A typical performance comprises of 3 x 30 minute or 2 x 45 minute sets
