Profile

Founder Dee Curtis heard the call for a multi – cultural, non - denominational gospel group, from those admirers of gospel style music without church links, so she gathered the best singers from all cultures and groups to bring the authentic gospel sound with variations.

Within 18 months of forming, they were called to perform at Covent Garden’s Royal Opera House. Citizen have gone from strength to strength and regularly performs at weddings, concerts and church gatherings, and were short listed for the semi-finals of ‘BBC Talent’ with their adaptation of the Eurythmics song “Sweet Dreams”.

With other performances alongside Paul Weller and a Christmas Tour in 1999 with the Spice Girls, Citizen, have been meeting the demands of performance with great enthusiasm.

Visually, Citizen - the urban gospel choir, incorporate expressive, choreographed moves to express themselves in their contemporary fashion, all the time mindful of the many backgrounds and cultures the members come from, which includes Muslim, Jewish, Christian and other faiths.

Citizen can provide up to 18 singers for corporate events and music festivals.Ideal for weddings, funerals, corporate and private events, Citizen can offer a variety of solutions. For any performance. The choir have a repertoire to suit any function and can include special requests given sufficient notice.

Weddings start as a minimum of 4 singers plus keyboards up to a maximum of 12 singers. The wedding package includes arrival prior to the bride and groom and up to 5 songs during the service/ceremony. Please be aware that civil wedding ceremonies do not allow songs with religious content. Citizen can perform a selection of love and upbeat/contemporary music from their wedding repertoire.
